The Whole Hog Cookbook Launch With Ontario Pork & Market Fresh

Market Fresh Guelph partnered with Ontario Pork to launch The Whole Hog book in support of Feed Ontario on February 15, Canada's Agriculture Day. The 200-page cookbook is a collection of pork recipes, stories and tips gathered from people across Ontario. It highlights local food and is designed for anyone who yearns for everyday sustainability.

We had some of our local pork producers in attendance, Guelph Mayor Cam Guthrie, renowned Chefs like Emily Richards and Jason Waschkowski, Market Fresh's head butcher Stéphane Lebrocq and owner Dayle Toscan, and Andrea Waters from Feed Ontario.

United in their love of sustainably grown pork, recipes were collected from dedicated farmers, top-flight chefs, truckers, veterinarians, nutritionists, processors, retailers and backyard grillers. From farm to fork, their stories provide insight into the care given to animals and the sustainable practices being used by farmers. 

"Today’s event is a wonderful way to highlight the collaborative work of organizations in Guelph to bring local, fresh food to our community. Organizations like Feed Ontario, the province’s largest collective of hunger-relief organizations, including food banks and industry partners. Their amazing work to end hunger and poverty by delivering fresh and healthy food, developing innovative programming, and driving change through research and advocacy is inspirational. It is always a good time to support your local food banks and donate as part of food drives," said Cam Guthrie.

Proceeds from the sale of the book will support Feed Ontario. Since 2013 Ontario Pork and its members have proudly donated over 299,267 pounds of pork, distributed through the Ontario network of food banks.
